Step 1 - sign in with your csu email address
step 2 -- go to https://www.icati.catishack.com
step 3 -- click the "sign in with google" button. This will allow you to sign in -- please use your csuf email address,
part 4: click the link "sign in with your google account",
part 5 -- You should see your csu fresno email address, with your name visible in the login screen. Make sure your name appears. For students in my classes --- Do not "signup with google" if your name does not appear on the screen when you are about to login. If you cannot see your name, then close your browser and see below for instructions on logging in without google; similarly, for students, if some part of your name is not in your email, please do not login with google.
As long as your name appears, you may log in just the same way you would if you were logging into your csu email account, which just entails typing in your password you normally use to access that account, and you will be taken back to the icati account page. You will receive an email message with your account login information. Once you have received the email message with your account login information you know you have successfully registered with icati. You still need to pay for your voucher and order your number. Instructions for these parts are below.

Logging in without google:
If you do not see your name with the gmail login, or if you have an email with neither your first nor last name in it, you must abort and login with the old school signup method (not using google to login), which entails completing the signup information on the homepage and having the login information sent to your email. To do that, go to the icati homepage, and complete the form, and hit the signup button,
Please follow the above instructions to register as a new user, right away. Email if you have any trouble.

Here's how to buy your 3 month voucher for $12. Log in to the icati site with the login information you were sent via email. You must be logged in to make the purchase. Click the topup tab, choose the 3 month voucher, click the paypal button,
then follow the instructions to make the payment.
Please do not enter your card number on the icati site. On the icati site, you must click the paypal button, not the credit button. After clicking the paypal button, click the "checkout with paypal" button and you will be transferred to the paypal site to make the $12 purchase. You can use your credit card with paypal.
Make sure you have your name and address visible when you are making the purchase on paypal, and if you see a checkbox for "use this shipping address" make sure it is checked.
After completing the purchase, you will receive an email, which contains your voucher number. Highlight the voucher number with your mouse and copy the voucher, then, back on the icati website, paste the voucher into the "buy a number" page.
Notes:
-1) country dropdown -- You should set the country dropdown to be set the U.S.
-2) City dropdown -- should be set on city closest to your last name. If the person's last name was "Black" then the person would choose"Boca Raton.". This is the number you will be calling when recording your interviews, so this person will be issued a number with a Boca Raton area code. If you have a calling plan on your cell phone that limits your calling, for the city, you may choose Fresno, in which case icati will give a local 559 number.
-3) area code dropdown -- This will automatically be set depending on the city you chose, unless your city has more than one area code, in which case, you will need to chose an area code within your city.
-4) "forward to" dropdown -- must be set on voicemail
- 5) "subscription" dropdown -- must be set to 3 month
- 6) paste the voucher into the text box (you received this voucher via email after paying, or you may have received the voucher by buying from the bookstore).
- 7) hit submit button
The system should issue you the icati recording number you will use this semester. You will see it appear on the screen. Take note of it. Now we need to make some adjustments to customize your account. This is important and required,
Click, "my account" then click "update"
Next, you'll need to fix the various settings for your number, such as this example,
1. Enter any common name
2. Make sure dropdown is on voicemail
3. Make sure dropdown is on beep
4. Make sure record check box is checked (checkbox next to "do you want to record calls" should be checked, and "do you want to keep recordings in the system" should also be checked), and you will need to type your correct email address in the text box. You will not get the recording url's if this isn't set correctly, and thus you won't get credit. Make sure your correct email address is listed. This would be your csu email address, where you want the recordings sent.
5. Hit the update button.
The last thing to do is to make a call to make sure its all working correctly. Place your phone on speakerphone, as practiced during class. Call your icati number from your cell phone. It should beep then begin recording. In some cases you may not hear the beep. Set your phone in front of the radio or tv for at least 6 minutes, and then hangup. You should get a call recording url and attachment sent to your email, and you should check to make sure the recording length matches the full length of the call. You should make sure you can clearly hear the recording. If the call hungup on you before 6 minutes, or if you had any problems with any of the above, please email tkubal@csufresno.edu for support.
Once you have completed the above, then you have successfully purchased your voucher and number, and configured the settings. It is important that you complete all of the above this week.
